Monk Class Overview:
My version of a Monk class in Hearthstone takes many of the ideas and themes of Monks from World of Warcraft and adapts them into Hearthstone. The purpose of this project is to lay out an initial base for the class, showing its main mechanics as well as its strengths and weaknesses.
Hero Power: Martial Prowess
(at the end of the second turn)
The two Martial Forms you can choose from are:
- Martial Fury: Which gives your hero +1 attack during your turns.
- Martial Tranquility: Which provides you with Chi +1.
(See Chi for more info)
Class Resource: Chi
Monks also have access to their own Class specific resource called Chi. This resource is gained through the game from cards that can provide temporary or even permeant Chi Bonuses. It functions very similarly to Spell Damage, with some minions even providing Chi while they are on the battlefield.
The function Chi serves for Monks is that it bolsters the power of some of their cards. With many cards being improved exponentially with the amount of Chi you have.

Other Mechanics:
Some other Mechanics Monks have are:
- Cards that reduce the attack of enemy minions allowing them to strike these vulnerable targets without taking retaliation damage, powerful Taunt cards, random generation in the form of Discover effects, efficient healing, Weapons, and Windfury cards.
While Mechanics they lack are:
- good card draw, AOE effects, token style gameplans, and burst damage.
